Brandy Hebbes

Brandy (Dobmeier) Hebbes was born (1972) and raised in Pilger, Saskatchewan.  She was blessed with tremendous parents, three siblings, a secure stimulating home, and an upbringing worthy of envy.  This start in life founded her passion for things that are meaningful – be it grand plans or small moments.

Drawn by the allure of the ranch type of life, Brandy came to Alberta in 1990 and found satisfaction working in agriculture. She met her husband, Berle, in 1999 and they made their home on a large acreage north of Strathmore, AB.  Brandy is grateful for this wonderful man who is deeply supportive of her passion for art.

Brandy has enjoyed art since childhood and started drawing more seriously around 1998.  She has no formal art training but has taken many classes and workshops since moving to Strathmore and joining Wheatland Society of Arts. Brandy has served on the board of directors of WSA since 2003 and has also been involved in numerous other arts initiatives. In addition to promoting the importance of all art, she strives to help turn the Wheatland Society of Arts into a thriving accessible hub of visual arts.

Brandy credits professional artist Debra Ward as being the pivotal influence in her artistic pursuits – pushing her to excel at drawing then to explore soft pastel, acrylic paint, and oil paint.   Now she also enjoys experimenting with other visual art forms as well.

Though she currently enjoys employment in the beef industry, Brandy hopes to someday do art full time and fit ‘work’ into her spare time!
