The day has come and summer is wrapping up for the TD Summer Reading Club. We are so happy with how this summer turned out, we had so much fun creating and running this program. Hopefully your children enjoyed this program as much as we did! We have to start with a HUGE thank you to all our donors and volunteers. Without them we would not have been able to even have a program this summer. The generosity of the community really allowed us to host the best six weeks of camp we could!
We also want to give a big thank you to the parents, children and teenagers who took part in our program. We had so much fun with all the kids this summer and it was so nice to be able to have an in person program! From crafts to tag and the endless books, we had so much fun not only creating but experiencing this program with the kids! Some of our favourite memories this summer included parachute games with all the groups, making friendship bracelets with our 5/7 groups, and one on one reading on Fridays! (One on one reading will continue as Book Buddies in the fall, look for details on the website)
We also loved hosting the Teen Summer Reading Club this summer! We had ten teens join us this summer and we had a blast! From chocolate Olympics, homemade paper and a minute to win it tournament we had so much fun getting to know our teens and planning programming for them.
We also had a ton of fun getting to interact with the community every Friday, during our free Community Friday Events! We hosted a variety of events from a carnival and rock painting to the Strathmore Fire Department visiting. These events were some of our favourites to host. It was so nice to spend some more time with Summer Reading Club kids and other members of the community!
Finally we have to say one gigantic thank you to the library staff, without their never ending help and support we would never have been able to succeed this summer. The librarians ensured a successful library time; they tirelessly helped us to pick books for the children and never complained no matter how loud it was! Together, the three of us had the most fun and successful summer we could have. We hope your children enjoyed themselves as much as we did!
