Artist Biography

Bonnie started painting after she retired from teaching. She’s dabbled in watercolour, painted with acrylics, and finally found her niche painting with oils. Landscapes and waterscapes intrigue her, however, she truly enjoys the challenge of portrait painting (both human and animal). Commissions fill a good portion of her time at the easel.

A few years ago Bonnie did try wood carving and she loved it. However, she wasn’t able to continue with this, so the items she’s carved won’t be redone.

Presently Bonnie is learning all she can about pottery. It’s been a real challenge for her and she’s found a new passion.

Bonnie resides in Strathmore and is an active member of the Wheatland Society of Arts.

Artist Biography

Bonnie's husband, Eric Lilly, will also have some of his art on display. Eric's work is paper tole art - a traditional 3D paper craft.

Eric enjoyed painting, mostly watercolor and some acrylic paintings, in his younger years. He became interested in paper tole when he attended an art show in 2011. He attended weekly workshops at Bowcliff Seniors Centre in Calgary and spent many productive hours exercising his creative muscle. Eric also took wood carving for a short time and produced some interesting work. Although he’s not presently engaged in these pursuits, he enjoys watching Bonnie’s creative efforts and sometimes gently provides advice on ways she can improve her work.

Bonnie and Eric enjoy having their art displayed on their own walls, and they are delighted to share it with the wonderful folks in Strathmore.
